I'm interested in PC gaming, but just look at the ridiculous prices, man. True, it runs everything at 1440p, maxed, but that's just ridiculous. Aaand here's the first of what will become a monthly feature: "Get Into Gaming - For Just $1000" The basic gist is that the monthly build will go for the best (affordable) high-end processor, a decent graphics card, and will expect to be upgraded in 3 years. By upgrading the graphics card every three years, we're getting way more bang for our buck. A $600 graphics card today will be the equivalent of $450 card in eighteen months, so going for the $300 option now makes sense. Affordable. Can max out (at 1600x900p), and generally good all around. For those wondering how this stacks against consoles , see this: http://imgur.com/GAFz4Gt PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($357.98 @ Amazon Canada) Motherboard: MSI B85M-G43 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($81.00 @ Vuugo) Memory: GeIL EVO Leggara Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($63.84 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($269.99 @ Memory Express) Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Memory Express) Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($69.27 @ DirectCanada) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($139.79 @ DirectCanada) Total: $1021.86 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
