[Patrol] The night shift? Really?

Good Ol' Rikaru
It was close to midnight, the moon almost full, casting a fair amount of light across the streets infront of the mall. A lone figure stood on the roof of the structure, slowly walking the perimeter, watching for anyone, or anything suspicious.

This is boring! Rik whined, materializing next to James. Couldn't we have done something more...fun? James paused his pace, shaking his head before replying. It was this or nothing. he stated flatly. Jobs were scarse lately, and turning one even as boring at this was a bad move.

The mall had apparently been having problems with people breaking in and vandalizing, or stealing things at night. Apparently they had been wave converted, and more then their traditional security could handle, thus why he was here now. If they returned, he would be sure to send them packing...

Ready, aim... FIRE!

Shadow warrior Don Cossack was hidden in a doorway across from a rather flashy electronics shop. It was midnight, after all, and nobody around should be able to handle him. Heck, he could be in an out in five minutes without breaking a sweat.

Bedecked in a dark gray tunic and a matching cloak, you could barely make out a face from the shape.

And then he let a shot rip from his Buster, sending a projectile smashing into a shop window at high speeds. The glass never stood a chance, shattering into a bajillion bits in an instant.

WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP

James stiffened when he heard the distinct sound of glass shattering, followed by the alarm going off. Who would be ballsy enough to just blatently break in THAT way? He figured he would know soon enough, quickly dashing off towards the direction the sound originally came from, which of course happened to be on the far end corner of the building from where he was.

It wouldn't take long for him to cover the distance, but it would be delayed, as he paused to merge with Rik before continueing. No point finding the source of the alarm and not be prepared. As soon as the duo were merged, he took off again, his scarf trailing behind him. He would reach the corner he thought he heard the sound come in a matter of seconds, leaping boldly off to land on the ground below.

He wouldn't be exactly right in where the shop that was under attack was though. As he looked around he would finally see the broken glass shop front half way down this side of the mall. Cursing, he started to run towards it, hoping he wasnt too late.

So why are we here again Tori?

You got a job to assist a robbery.

Hmm...

Shikaku stood outside the shop on the wave road. She saw someone starting towards the shop. It was none other than James in his wave conversion. If she remembered correctly his name was Rikaru. He was another mercenary that had agreed to help with some of her jobs as long as he took the credit.

She never thought that she would have to take him out on an occasion. It didn't matter. She was here for money and money only. An X shaped structure materialized on her. It began blasting purple energy causing her to rise a few inches off the ground. She decided to stay there for now and see if the person she was supposed to help would come out or not.

That alarm is enough to raise the dead! Move, move, move!

Cursing himself for not doing the obvious and just utilizing the capabilities every EM Wave being had - that of short range teleportation - Don Cossack took a look to his left, spotting an inbound Wave Warrior about halfway down the mall, and then made a short dash into the shop.

Now which model was I supposed to take? Right - the HunterVG-XS. That's blue, right?

In the shop, surrounded by display models and piles of boxes that held countless gizmos, Cossack scanned for the models he was supposed to retrieve. Special models, with non-standard capabilities. At least, that's what he had been told. Who was he to argue with the buyer?

And that's how he found himself in the shop.

And somebody was on their way. He'd have to make it quick - and preferably bloodless.

James hadn't seen the culprit in the allyway, but when he dashed towards, and then into the store, he knew that was his man. He didn't notice the other figure that was prowling the street that night, his attention was on the man inside, and had not figured he would have assistance.

Coming to a stop in front of the store, he put a hand on the spear along his back, and called into the store as he slowly walked forward, not wanting to let him slip by if he ran in to chase after him. Give up. Come out slowly, hands where I can see them, and I won't have to hurt you.

It seemed that her so called ally still hadn't come out of the shop. She cursed in her mind. Couldn't he play along to her plan. She needed him to play the distraction so she could take her target out. But he seemed intent on hiding out. Was there any way to call him out... Yes there was!

The person who had hired Shikaku happened to be the same person who hired Cossack. She had been given his email just in case she needed to contact him in advance. She took this opportunity and sent a quick email to him. This would hopefully get the battle started. The sooner it ended, the sooner she got her money. She only hoped that Cossack would cooperate and make this easy for both of them.

Cossack:
My name is Shikaku. I was hired to help you out. Come outside of the shop and keep our friend busy. I'll take him out from above. The sooner we end this, the sooner we both get our money okay?

That man moves fast. No matter - we've got what we came for, right?
Yes, but I didn't come to brain the guards. You did want a battle, didn't you Cossack? I'm talking to myself again...

Swapping the buster for a 1 meter long short sword, Cossack measured up his opponent. The man was somewhere around five ten, five eleven, and looked on the thin side. He was wearing some sort of jeans, a t-shirt and an unbuttoned dark green shirt. His face was obscured by a sort of mask - maybe a scarf?

Whoever the heck he was, the man held a tactical advantage - a spear outreaches a short sword any day. But on the other hand, the sword was far easier to maneuver.

He took a step towards the door, dropped the sword and reached for the sky.

And then something started to smoke, filling the room and seeping into the hallway. Thick, heavy smoke.

It looks like it'll stay for.... (roll dice turns!)

James watched as the man came back into sight. He was holding a sword, but promtly dropped it, and raised his hands like he was asked. So far so good. That would change quickly though, as suddenly smoke began filling the gap between them, his view of the criminal cut off.

Bad choice. James called into the smokey area, he told Rik to start sloting in cards, as it seemed like he would be difficult. Then he pointed in the direction he had seen the man last, though lower, more at the ground. Suddenly a meter diameter area of the smork started to whirl slowly, a moment later a small whirlwind formed, turning black as the vortex of wind swollowed uo the smoke to clear the air.

He couldn't be sure if the man was in the same place, so he didn't bother trying to run in blind. Instead deciding to at least just try to clear the smoke from the area, then begin his hunt for the man, though he did begin the process of accessing the chaos server, a faint purple aura washint briefly over his body as it modified his abilities.

It seemed as if the battle had begun. Shikaku told Tori in her head to begin loading a custom for them to use. In the mean time, it was time to start sniping her enemy. Her left design glowed a dull red. Immediately after, a deep red pistol materialized in that hand.

Her target wasn't inside the smokey area, so it would be simple for her to get a few good hits on him right away. She took her aim and then fired off three consecutive shots - pulling the trigger three times in quick succession. Immediately afterwards, she moved at sprinting speed to a new location that would not be seen if Rikaru only looked at the spot where she fired from. And if he did take the time to pan out, Cossack would end up with an easy win. It was a win win situation for her.

EM Wave Battle! Ride on!

Don Cossack watched from his in-store-aisle position as the mall cop responded - with the result of the smoke being cleared away somehow. Wind user?

Quickly loading the preset cards, Cossack equipped the Buster - better to have a buster than to go in empty handed. And he never went into battle empty handed.

Sadly the one-two punch of cloud and blasts from the Buster wouldn't be able to be completed. Not for another five turns at best. Ah, well. He could always use other cards - it was a matter of buying time.

Charge complete

Don Cossack hopped, firing into the store opening, where he believed that the cop was still lurking. One for me!

Good Ol' Rikaru
Rikaru peered into the dark shop, the man seemed to have taken cover, but he knew he was still inside somewhere. But his attention would soon shift, the sound of a shot fired would resound through the area, almost immediately followed by the shot striking him. Two more shots would follow suit, but he was quick to raise a barrier that would deflect the two blasts that would have struck otherwise.

He was about to look to see where the source of the shots came from, but motion caught his eye, as the man he was after hopped into view briefly, firing a shot of energy at him. He saw the shot with enough time to side step it, and suddenly realized after the manuver he was facing two opponents. This would be tricky...

Given the fact he hadn't seen who was the partner in crime, he figured they were taking the role of support, at a distance, like a sniper of sorts. Though no sniper he knew would use something as weak as a pistol round.

Either way, he was already down a defense, and he wasn't happy about it. To add to it, Rik told him the next custom would load slower then usual. Perfect. Things were not looking to be ideal.

He figured based on the angle the shots from his mysterious assailent, he is at a disadvantage staying in the open. So ignoring who ever it was, he started in after the man who had fired at him.

He jumped to clear the shattered glass, landing with a crunch inside. Dammit he cursed mentally. Now his position would be known. He thought he saw the man ducking back behind one of the aisles, but he wasnt sure which. So not wasting any time, he swung his spear off his back, slamming it into and through the shelves in front of him. Regardless of if the spear hit him, or not...the shelves would start toppling over, hopefully flushing his foe out either way...

Shikaku sighed. This was going to be extremely annoying if both enemies were indoors. But then again, that could work to her advantage. She moved along the wave road until she reached a spot where she could line up with one of the shop windows. Just as she had hoped, she had a pretty big view of all of the enemies. And if they ever got out of view, there were always some other windows. It was a pretty small shop anyhow.

A slight red aura emitted from her as her custom sped up before both of her vine designs glowed a dull and dark green. A sniping rifle materialized in her hands as her pistol vanished. She took careful aim being sure to aim for Rikaru. He seemed to be demolishing the shop at the moment. It was perfect though. His backside was completely exposed.

She thanked herself for having the rifle ready. Pistols weren't nearly as accurate. She finally got her aim perfect and then BAM!!!! A bullet tore through the window and headed for the center of Rikaru's back. The kickback had grounded her now though, so she would be a sitting duck if Rikaru decided to go after her. Hopefully Cossack would take that opportunity to attack him though.

THWACK!

The two metre long spear smacked into his torso like a sack of potatoes dropped on your toe. Don Cossack grunted from pain as his torso flashed across, spreading flame from one end to the other. The force sent him rolling back as the aisle collapsed like a stack of dominoes. Fortunately, he was not hit by the aisle collapsing when he rolled with the blow, diagonally, right into plain view.

Punk has a barrier up. I've got Shadow Affinity equipped. Could I slash him to death?

Equipping his short sword, he crow-hopped forward, facing his opponent in a fencing stance - less area to hit, less likely you are to take damage.

Engarde!
So much for not hurting people. All fired up now!

James felt his spear strike the warrior, glad he landed a hit to start things off between the two. The target in question rolled out of the aisle as the shelving started falling over, making quite the racket and mess...oopps?

He started to return his weapon to his back for now, it being a bit to small of an area for his liking for the large thing, choosing instead to begin forming two blades of glass from sand that began pouring from his palms. Just as he clamped his fists over the grips on either one though, he heard a loud gun shot, and a second later a round torn into his back.

The pain distracted him, and at the worst time too. For his main target just leaped forward to strike him with his own sword he had summoned forth. Normally having two swords would have put him in prime position to block and counter. But in this case he barely reacted in time to keep the blade at bay, crossing the two blades of glass to catch Cossacks in the middle.

This isn't going to work like this.... he thought. Obviously the sniper had circled around to shoot in from the store front. He needed to try to keep away from windows now. This would be tough...worrying about where one enemy is when you can't even see them.

He pushed back finally with his blades, shoving as hard as he could to hopefully set him off balance, then quickly brought the blades back across in a cross cut fashion across his chest. He released the blades after the strike, allowing them to fall aside and shatter on the ground.

He wasn't about to stay in plain view of his sniper friend though, he quickly scanned the shop and started to move deeper into the store. In his hand he formed a small bomb as he activated one of his cards. He wanted to hopefully keep the would be thief interested in fighting still while he tried to make the snipers job more difficult. A couple meters in, standing on one of the fallen shelving units,he turned and hurled the bomb at Cossack, taking a glace and noting from here he couldn't see the roof of any buildings, and there was no skylights he knew from patroling the roof...so he should at least be able to see who ever it was move into view hopefully before the next shot rang out...

Wazzat? He did what?!

Rikaru had still decided to ignore all of her attacks. She rose back to her floating position as he ran further into the store. Shikaku frowned. It would harder to snipe him now. Harder, but not impossible. She moved along the wave road and entered the store's wave road. Now that she was inside the shop, she would be able to attack her enemy.

She took up a vantage point near the right corner at the entrance of the shop. She could just make out where Rikaru stood without any aid. Her eyes started glowing bright red. The spot where Rikaru stood would become thick with electricity for a brief moment before being zapped three times.

Immediately after that, Shikaku moved out of her spot. She crossed to the other side as well as moved a few meters in. A tall shelf obstructed her aim. She dematerialized her rifle and took a few of the goods. She moved around the shelf and tossed them in Cossack's general area. If they hit him, they might harm him a bit, but it would draw Rikaru's attention towards the source of the noise and possibly give her an opportunity to strike.

As soon as she threw them, she ducked back behind the shelf. Summoning her rifle again, she placed the gun through the hole she had created with the lack of goods. Taking aim at Rikaru once more, she fired her rifle sending another bullet his way.

Don Cossack was in the middle of his hop-slash when his opponent blocked with summoned blades of his own. His sword was caught, unable to continue forward... and then they broke under the immense pressure his opponent put on them as he pushed with his blades. The blades caught Don Cossack smack in the middle, pretty near the same spot where the spear had smashed into him.

As he fell backwards in a roll, his opponents blades faded. Thankfully, his opponent wouldn't be able to use that against him now. Speaking of his opponent, he seemed to have ducked deeper into the store. Well done, my good sir! If I want to make an exit, the way is now clear!

Up on his feet, he glanced to see if the exit was clear, and then decided to get out of Dodge faster than a mounted cowboy can clear out of the path of an Indian warparty.

So mosey he did, right up until a bomb blew him off his feet at the doorway. Some strange twist of fate had ensured he'd be leaving the store with a bang.

In the fashion of the great Pied Piper, Don Cossack decided to serenade his opponent with a song. Not just vocals, but with an electric guitar backing - an not an ordinary electric guitar, but a specially made, rare guitar that had been produced for a pop star concert. Perhaps this would be his much vaunted smash hit? It wouldn't really matter; so long as his opponent was in the shop and Cossack outside, the fight was effectively limited to long range sniping, something which it looked like neither of them was proficient at.

Good Ol' Rikaru
Rikaru was pleased that his bomb was successful. He would have no tike to celi rate that short victory though. He noticed motion above, catching a glimpse of Shikaku as she moved into position. He started to move forward, but seeing suddenly the mysrerious snipers eyes start to glow, and the air around him begining to prickle, he quickly jumped to the side, and kept running at an angle towards the far wall. The inital jump managed to clear him from the triple strike of lightning, which could have spelt a lot of pain for him had it hit.

Rikaru's attention was off of Cossack now, and didn't notice him begin his attack, or the fact Shikaku had started clearing off a space for her sniping purch. His first clue was as he neared the wall, hearing the electric guitar scream out. He looked behind him to find a trail of notes following after him. He didn't have much time to act, so he kept on his path towards the wall, preparing a card just in case.

The wall was now less then a meter away, and Rikaru was still running full tilt, the notes almost on him. He kicked off the ground in a powerul leap, planting his foot on the wall, and kicking off it, rebounding, aimed for the wave road, figuring he would be safe from the notes there. He almost didn't make it. Reacbing out he caught the edge of the road, and hung there for a moment, safe from the guitars attack at least, for now. But not safe from Shikaku exactly....

He turned his head to lool at something that caught his attention, a small movement, only to find a barrel of the snipers rifle pointed at him from a shelving unit a couple meters away. Instinctively he held his hand out, tightening his grip with his only hand holding him up, and formed a shield that tool the shot she fired a second later. He was lucky...something he hated to admit, instead of it being skill that saw him through.

His shield was shattered by the shot, so he had a free hand again, and quickly scrambled up onto the wave road. He was tired of dealing with pop shots, and wanted to see if he couldn't scare who ever it was off by striking back this time.

Circling around the road and shelving unit, he woukd find Shikaku in place where she had shot still. He wasted no time, seeing an oppertune time to strike, he activated another card, his left arm taking on a almost diseased appearance, as ashes circled it. He lashed out, sending a two meter long wisp of ashes forward to strike the sniper.

His right arm now would shift form, taking on the appearance of a cannon. He dispised these kinds of weapons, and wasn't the best with them...but if his foe was a ranged fighter, he would need to adapt. Luckily the short range they were in now made his less then splendid aim more forgiving, as he raised and took aim and fired, the shot would hopefully hit.

He would turn his attentiom back to Cossack now. His attacks on the sniper made, he needed to make sure the one that started this fiasco wouldn't get away. He dashed to the edge of the wave road, and leapt off it, landing on the floor below, rolling to a stop. He then ran towards the enterence, or exit now as it were, hopefully leaving the sniper inside long enough to give him a breather ad he dealth with the Don.

The Remnant
-- -- -- -- --

A loud siren alarm still screaming from the Mall was enough to get any passerby's attention. Although it was questionable, at best, what Jake was doing around the mall at such a late hour.

" What's going on in there?"

Glass crashing. Shelves falling. Shots firing. And... Guitars being played?

" ... Slipknot's making a comeback?"

" ... Let's just check it out."

Jake made his way to the scene, but it looked like everything was far from over. A robbery at an electronics shop, it seemed.

" I don't see anyone here..."

" I do. Time to merge."

As Jake entered Wave form, the Wave Road became visible, but so did several other Wave Warriors in the vicinity.

" ... Who do we attack?"

" How about all of them? Until we found out who's on which side."

The group was fighting, so it was clearly a guard vs bandit scene.

" Load some cards. And first-things-first -- I want to get rid of that terrible guitar."

While Remnant loaded, Warrior went in for a strike at Cossack -- not necessarily at his person, but mostly at his Guitar. A baseball-fashioned swing of his sword would probably do the job, and if not, then it'd leave a nasty wound on its victim.

It wasn't Warrior's fastest swing, but it was enough to show the others which side he had chosen.

Before he struck, it should be mentioned that blue energy began to swirl around Warrior's feet, which appeared to have a direct influence to the condition of his sword. The blade adopted a faint blue glow as he made his swing, signifying its increased strength from the swirling energy beneath him.

OOC: Technically it takes an entire turn to move up to the wave road, but Lash and I decided we'd let it go.

Shikaku was moving right after her bullet was blocked by Rikaru. The thing was, she did the exact opposite of what a sniper would do. One would probably thing she was idiotic for doing this, but in reality, she was equally as skilled in close-combat fights as she was in ranged one. It was one of the things she prided herself in. Her sniper rifle had disappeared as she prepared herself.

She willingly took the ashes attacked and then slid to the ground when the cannon was fired. He seemed to be turning away, but hopefully he would not escape as she was directly behind him now and there was a spherical object in her right hand. She jammed it into the ground and a large gravity vortex appeared in a 1.5 meter radius that would be able to easily engulf Rikaru unless he had something up his sleeve.

She would quickly circle around behind him - a black sword forming in her hand now. She would then stab it towards Rikaru's back to try to get some good damage on him. Immediately after that, she would let the sword disappear and move along the wave road to a safer position - not knowing of Rikaru's intention to return to the ground.

She noticed the newcomer now seeing that he was attacking her partner in crime. It wasn't going to help having to fight an extra enemy, but she would have to deal with it. She decided to activate two cards. First, three large white meteors loomed outside the store. Before long, they would crash through the roof leaving 3 noticeably large holes. They would be aimed for the new fighter, but Cossack and Rikaru might be caught in them if they weren't careful. With all the shelves and things around, it might be harder to dodge.

Immediately after they would crash into the shop (destroying a bunch of property while they were at it), Shikaku activated another card. A large Ku'i would appear above where the new fighter was. Whether he was frozen, on the ground, moving, or standing, it would appear above him and crash down on an instant. Shikaku hoped it would get him off guard if he managed to avoid the meteors.

After that Shikaku moved along the wave road even more until she was on the other side of the store. Her rifle had formed in her hands again. She took aim at new fighter and let loose a bullet at him. If Shikaku was going to be up against two different opponents, she would need to step up her game even if she did have an ally.
